Corporate Social Responsibility

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in companies. We would therefore like to inform you about Post-Plaza's ongoing efforts with regard to sustainability. At Post-Plaza we believe in the power of positive change and the impact we as an organization can have on the environment and the communities in which we operate.

Within Post-Plaza we have established a Green Team that is responsible for all aspects related to Green Key and sustainability. In this way we stimulate continuous progress and share innovative ideas.

There are currently several ongoing projects. Our technical department is working hard on the installation of water-saving aerators in our showers and washbasin taps. In addition, we have switched to using door switches in our cold storage and freezer rooms, which means that the lighting is only activated when the door is opened.

Although many parts of the hotel are already equipped with LED lighting, we have not yet completely switched. We have received a dispensation from Greenkey for certain lighting aspects. Our goal is to replace all lighting with LED by 2025.

In 2025 and 2026, we were once again awarded Gold Green Key certification in recognition of our commitment to sustainability. The Green Key certificate indicates that, as a hotel, we do more in terms of sustainability than is required by law.

 

Hotel For Trees

We are proud on our partnership with Hotels for Trees. The Hotels for Trees Foundation makes a concrete contribution to a greener hotel world. A hotel world in which one new tree is planted for every day that a guest chooses to skip the room cleaning.

CLEANING PRODUCTS

We like to keep things tidy for our guests and for the planet. That's why we use environmentally friendly cleaning products. No unnecessary chemicals, just fresh rooms and a clearer conscience.

Bicycles for guests

At Post-Plaza, you can hop on a bike. Not only is it the most enjoyable way to explore Leeuwarden and the surrounding area, it's also the most sustainable. Choose a city bike or go electric, and you'll be out in nature in no time, with no emissions, no traffic jams, and the wind in your hair.

Good for the city. Better for tomorrow.

Local Products

We believe in the power of local produce. That's why we cook with products from Friesland as much as possible. Fresh, honest, and seasonal. Not because we have to, but because it tastes better—for our guests, for the farmers, and for the world around us.

Local isn't a trend. For us, it's the norm.

Marie Stella Maris

In the hotel rooms you will find Marie Stella Maris soap, shower gel and shampoo. This company donates part of their turnover to sustainable water projects.

Locally purchased Interior

When designing and furnishing the hotel, new furniture was chosen, as well as reused interior items. At Post-Plaza we think it is very important that our theme "The Postman" is reflected in the hotel atmosphere. Specific furniture and other interior items have been refurbished and they look beautiful in our Grand Cafe. In this way, the items contribute to the story of sustainability and the authentic Postman atmosphere is also enhanced.
