In 2018, Leeuwarden-Fryslân was the European Capital of Culture. Since the 2018 Cultural Capital, the Frisian eleven cities have been provided with unique fountains designed by eleven international artists.
The water artworks are made by artists from eleven different countries. These top artists were chosen by looking at whether there is a match between the character of the work of the artists and the history of the eleven cities.
