2 June 2020 - 6 September 2020

In 2020 it will be 75 years since the liberation of the Netherlands. In honour of this anniversary the Frisian Resistance Museum, in collaboration with Tresoar, the Frisian Film Archive and Historical Centre Leeuwarden, is showing films and photographs of the Second World War and the liberation in Fryslân. Eye in Eye with war can be seen in the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden from 6 June to 6 September 2020.

The exhibition of the Fries Verzetsmuseum connects to the national project The Second World War in 100 photographs of the Netherlands Institute for War Documentation (NIOD). The photographs are supplemented by amateur films that the Frisian Film Archive selected especially for this exhibition. Some films and photographs were shot in secret and at the risk of their own lives. A special space will be set up in the exhibition for contemporary projects and meetings with witnesses and experts.
