Roodbaart, a famous architect. Bieruma Oosting became mayor of Leeuwarden and then moved to an even larger house. DR. UFFELIE SUITE Willem Frederik Jacobus Uffelie, better known as doctor Uffelie, or the Mintdoctor, bought The Van Sminia Huys in 1911 for a total amount of Fl. 7500,-. His nickname "Mint Doctor" came to life because of his constant handing out of mints to patients and making a large number of mint-drink-medicine. Dr. Uffelie and his family lived in the house, while the servants would live in the basement. Both his and the pharmacist working for Dr. Uffelie left their initials in the Tuinzaal.
